Lekki–Epe International Airport Clears Final Federal Approval Hurdle
Ministerial sign-off on the aerodrome certificate path clears the way for full runway construction at the Epe-adjoining site.

The proposed Lekki–Epe International Airport has cleared its final federal approval hurdle, with aviation authorities confirming the project's path to an aerodrome certificate once civil works reach the prescribed stage.
The approval covers the airport's site layout, the 3.9-kilometre runway alignment and the protected approach corridors that will restrict building heights on land east and north of the site.
Lagos State officials say the airport is conceived as a cargo-first facility serving the Lekki Free Zone, the deep sea port and the refinery complex, with a passenger terminal phased in afterwards.
For Epe, the immediate effect is regulatory: parcels inside the approach corridors now carry height and land-use restrictions that buyers are advised to verify before purchase.
Economists at the state planning office project the airport will anchor a cluster of freight forwarding, cold chain and light assembly businesses within a fifteen-kilometre radius over the next decade.
