Lagos Lands Bureau Opens Property Audit on Untitled Lands in Acquisition and Revocation Zones
Owners and occupiers of undocumented property in affected zones have until September 25, 2026 to submit their claims.

The Lagos State Lands Bureau has begun a state-wide property audit exercise covering untitled lands lying within government acquisition and revocation zones, with a submission deadline of September 25, 2026.
Under the exercise, owners, developers and occupiers are required to declare their holdings, provide evidence of purchase or inheritance, and register the physical structures already on the land. Enumerators are visiting affected parcels and tagging structures as they are captured.
The Bureau says the audit is intended to build an accurate picture of occupation in areas the state committed to public purposes, and to create a route to regularisation for holders whose parcels are found to be excisable.
Parts of Epe, Ibeju-Lekki and Eti-Osa fall inside the mapped zones, which is why the exercise has drawn heavy attention along the growth corridor.
Residents are advised to keep every document they hold — deeds of assignment, survey plans, receipts, family conveyances — and to submit through official Lands Bureau channels only. Officials have warned against agents offering to "fast-track" declarations for a fee.
Holdings not declared by the deadline risk being treated as unclaimed when the state moves to the enforcement stage of the exercise.
