Augustine University Ilara-Epe Opens Coastal Research Centre
The centre will study shoreline change, water quality and fisheries stocks across the Lagos lagoon system.

Augustine University in Ilara-Epe has opened a coastal research centre focused on shoreline change, water quality and fisheries stocks in the Lagos lagoon system.
The centre is running a monitoring programme with sampling points from Epe through Ejinrin to the Lekki lagoon mouth, publishing quarterly readings.
Researchers say baseline data matters now more than ever, with dredging, reclamation and industrial discharge all increasing along the corridor within a short period.
Students from the university's science faculties rotate through the centre as part of their fieldwork requirement.
