LASUSTECH Opens Engineering and Marine Technology Programmes in Epe

The polytechnic-turned-university is targeting skills the corridor's port and industrial employers say they cannot hire locally.

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology has opened engineering and marine technology programmes at its Epe presence, built around the corridor's port and industrial employment base.

Course content covers welding and fabrication inspection, mechatronics maintenance and marine engine systems, with placement terms at zone employers.

Employers in the free zone have long said that technical roles are filled from outside the corridor because local candidates lack certification rather than aptitude.

The institution is also running short evening certificates aimed at workers already employed in the estates.
